Tea and coffee are however allowed but water of course is recommended. One of the main staples in the scarsdale diet is grapefruit. At breakfast and sometimes at lunch and dinner grapefruit is consumed. The reason stated is that the enzymes in grapefruit are important as they help in the fat burning process.
